Sustainability at Zengenti
Everyday actions are taken at Zengenti to stand up for nature and fight climate change. We believe in the power of collective action to protect our planet from climate change for future generations.
Sustainable initiatives
Green hosting
Zengenti and Contensis is part of the Green Web Foundation, which recognises businesses and hosting providers that run off green energy.
As a verified green hosting provider, Zengenti and Contensis have demonstrated the steps taken to avoid, reduce or offset greenhouse gas emissions caused by using electricity to provide our services.
Biomass heating
Our office building in Ludlow, Moor Hall, is heated using biomass energy.
Biomass is a renewable energy source, so it does not contribute to climate change.
The biomass heater is more efficient than traditional fossil-fuel-fired heaters - using less fuel to generate the same amount of heat.
Committed to making conscious choices
We’re planning practices and ways to become even more sustainable as an organisation.
Solar energy
The installation of solar panels at Zengenti HQ will further reduce our need for electricity from the grid. With the opportunity to provide green energy back to the grid for anything we don’t use as an organisation.
Air cooling
The introduction of free air cooling in our own data centre in Ludlow, will keep our systems cool with a lower impact on the environment.
Remote working
The majority of our team continues to work from home, reducing unnecessary daily travel.
Clean energy
As a company, we strive to make all the electricity we consume at Moor Hall 100% renewable.
All of our data centres run using 100% renewable energy. We use EON to supply electricity for our headquarters, which is also 100% renewable.
Reducing waste
In 2023, we launched our reducing waste initiative. As a company, we’re working together to be more mindful of the resources we use.
Waste can mean many things, from leftovers at team lunches to inactive free trial development environments running. We’re doing our bit to be more mindful of the waste we create as a company.
Wildlife watch project
In 2023 we embarked on an ongoing initiative to create a range of habitats and feeding stations to support our local wildlife.
Bee boxes
We've made bee boxes to provide safe havens for the many types of these essential pollinators found in the grounds of The Moor Hall and surrounding area.
Barn owl box
These beautiful birds play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance in the surrounding area. We've built a box to encourage safe nesting for these nocturnal hunters.
Bird boxes
All of our local birds can benefit from a little help. We've made nesting boxes for small birds too, and we keep our feeding stations topped up with food to help them out.
