Contensis is available for UK public sector organisations to buy through the UK Government’s G-Cloud procurement framework for the 7th year running.

G-Cloud is part of the Digital Marketplace provided by the Government Digital Service. It’s a framework agreement between the government and suppliers that allows 28,000 public sector organisations to choose cloud software, support and hosting from a searchable list. Organisations can then use these framework agreements to buy software without needing to go through a full tender process – a potentially huge saving in time and money.

Each framework agreement is known as a service. There are three categories, or lots, of services:

  • Cloud software

  • Cloud support

  • Cloud hosting

Contensis is available in the cloud software category as a standalone software service, as well as in different packages with discounts tailored to the needs of various public sector organisations. We also offer additional consultancy, training, and build services under the cloud support category to help you with your project. Finally, the Zengenti Compute service in the cloud hosting category provides access to our Zengenti Private Cloud hosting service. You can use this to provision any additional operating systems, applications, and databases you need for your project.

Cloud software

Content Management System (CMS) Contensis

We offer several different Contensis licenses through G-Cloud to suit organisations of varying sizes. Every license includes guaranteed 99.9% uptime for your front-end sites, and 24/7 support. Unlike the packages below, this service doesn’t entitle you to any discounts on our standard modules or the cost of our services team building structured content areas for you. Training is also available separately as part of our Training Services

Packages

Contensis is also available in 7 different packages to suit the requirements of a variety of public sector bodies.

Each one includes guaranteed 99.9% uptime for your front-end sites, and 24/7 support – regardless of the license level you choose. And, every package includes a 25% discount on the cost of our Quality Assurance and Forms modules, which we find are requested for most public sector projects.

The major differences between the packages lie in the discounts they offer on our build services. Each package offers a 15% discount on the cost of our services team building up to two structured content areas of your site using content types and entries and React.js. The structured content areas available in each package are those we’ve found are commonly requested by the kind of organisation for which the package is intended.

Here’s a breakdown of each package:

Technical consultancy and writing for the web training are also available through this service.

Our researchers, designers, and developers are experts in building effective, user-friendly, and accessible websites and apps. These services are flexible and are priced per day – so you can use them to deliver your entire project, or just the areas in which you require our expertise.

Why buy through the Digital Marketplace?

Public sector organisations use the Digital Marketplace as a faster and more cost-efficient alternative to the traditional procurement process. Rather than preparing a lengthy request for tenders (RFT) and inviting vendors to respond, organisations can search for suppliers that match their criteria and shortlist them accordingly. As long as you follow the proper processes you should be able to procure the right software faster and with a lot less work.

What’s the process for buying services through G-Cloud?

Gov.uk states that when you buy through G-Cloud ‘you must be able to show that your assessment of services was fair and transparent’. You should keep thorough records of your research and shortlisting process. Gov.uk recommends writing a list of your requirements, researching the security standards you need to meet, and keeping an audit trail throughout the process. You can do this by saving the searches you carry out on the Digital Marketplace and exporting them when you’re ready to start assessing services.

See the G-Cloud buyer’s guide on gov.uk for a step-by-step guide on buying through G-Cloud.

How long do G-Cloud contracts last?

G-Cloud contracts normally last for up to 24 months. In certain circumstances you can extend your contact by one year, and then a further year after that. Once your contract has expired you’ll need to re-evaluate your needs and the services available to make sure you’re getting the best value for money.

What else can I buy through the Digital Marketplace?

While G-Cloud provides the public sector with an easy way to procure software and support, there are two other frameworks available on the Digital Marketplace – Crown Hosting Data Centres and Digital Outcomes and Specialists.

Crown Hosting Data Centres framework is specifically designed to provide public sector organisations with access to physical data centre space for applications that can’t be moved to the cloud.

The Digital Outcomes and Specialists framework is similar to G-Cloud in that it allows you to procure digital outcomes, digital specialists, and user research services to help with your projects. An outcome could be a booking system or an accessibility audit, for example. A digital specialist might be a designer or developer. You will need to write requirements that describe the work you want done before you find an outcome or specialist.

All of our services are available through the Digital Outcomes and Specialists framework.
