Why you can't afford to miss Rocket Conf '18

As well as running regular Contensis user groups, for the past four years we've held an annual conference, Rocket. It's a chance to find out what we've got planned for Contensis, hear expert speakers talk about web best practice, and meet other people who use Contensis from organisations similar to yours.

This year we've decided to change things up and move Rocket to not only a new venue, but a new city too. Rocket Conf' 2018 will take place on 4 October at the amazing We the Curious in Bristol.

Other than the exciting new venue, here are five reasons you can't afford to miss this year's conference.

1. It's totally free

It can be hard enough to get a day out of the office, let alone getting the budget for a conference ticket.

So, like all of our community events, Rocket is free to attend for all Contensis users.

We keep our community events free because we want as many of you as possible to get the most out of Contensis.

Oh, and as always, there will be plenty of cool Zengenti merch to take home.

2. It helps you plan for the future

Rocket is where we announce the updates we're making to Contensis.

If you've been a Contensis user for more than 2 years, you'll know we recently started releasing updates roughly every 12 weeks. With a fresh version of Contensis every couple of months, changes come thick and fast. At Rocket product owner Richard Saunders will talk you through some of the new features and functionality we'll be adding to Contensis in the next few releases.

Planning on making a major overhaul to your website or app? Come along and find out how the features we're adding will provide a better way to develop a service or product that you're building.

3. It's a chance to meet and learn from other Contensis users

Many Contensis users come to every one of our events just to catch up with other members of the community.

They take advantage of coffee breaks and breakout sessions to meet new people, chat, and put their heads together over common organisational challenges.

Some have taken this even further and meet up with other users in the days before or after Rocket to chat about developments in their industry and share advice.

This year we have arranged a totally out of this world post-conference social at We the Curious. Kick back and relax with colleagues on the roof terrace overlooking Millennium Square. Or, take a journey through the solar system in the UK’s only 3D planetarium. Imagine enjoying a beer in space!

4. It will make you an office hero

Like any conference, Rocket is a great opportunity to take time out from your day-to-day routine to learn more about the latest techniques and technologies.

From prototyping with real content to creating progressive web apps that offer all the benefits of a website and a native mobile app in one package, we'll be running sessions that will help you stay ahead of the content management curve.

Our own services team uses Contensis all day, every day. Rocket is your chance to find out how we've been developing with the latest features and get the inside track on building cutting-edge digital services. You'll go back to your office a fully-fledged Contensis expert.

5. It features great guest speakers

As well as bringing along our own Contensis experts, we're always on the lookout for guest speakers we think have valuable insights for our community.

In the past we've had experts on accessibility, user experience, product design, and content strategy.

This year we're excited to welcome Martin Sadler and Jenni Taylor to Rocket. A former IT director in local government, Martin now works as a consultant helping leading organisations with digital transformation. Jenni is deputy head of digital communications at Cardiff University. She leads a team responsible for creating engaging web content for a variety of audiences both internally and externally, as well as providing expert training and support for devolved web authors across the institution.
