In the run-up to our client-focused Rocket conference we have been talking to our digital-specialist speakers to find out who they are and what they think.
Who are you?
I'm Dan White, I work in the product development team at Zengenti, building and planning new features in Contensis. I have worked in this field for over 15 years and have seen a lot of things in programming change for the better in that time. Web development is easier now than it was in 2001.
Why do you do what you do?
I enjoy solving problems and development provides this. I hated computers when I was younger and then I fell into programming and realised I really enjoyed it. Also, I am not very good at anything else, so it may be just down to luck that I work in an area I enjoy.
What is the most important skill to have working in digital today?
In development things are constantly changing, new technologies come along that completely change how you do things. So it's important to accept that you will want to re-write what you are working on now in six months time and conversely to not re-write work you did six months ago just for the sake of it.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I play crown green bowls for a team in Shrewsbury, I am enthusiastic if skills are a little lacking. I also love watching cricket, especially test match cricket. Hearing the sound of leather on willow on warm day can't be beaten.
Tell us a joke. (keep it clean!)
"My dog has no nose"
"How does he smell?"
