Contensis user Bournemouth Borough Council took the award for Digital Council of the Year at the Digital Leaders 100 awards last week.

The 2015 Digital Leaders 100 list honours the highest digital achievements from across the UK’s public, private and non-profit sectors. It celebrates individuals and organisations who are using digital methods to transform the UK’s public services and its social and economic opportunities.

Bournemouth Borough Council is a unitary authority serving a population of over 190,000 people. The council are heavily involved in digital initiatives in Bournemouth. They sponsor grassroots projects, support digital conferences, and have introduced the world’s fastest free Wi-Fi network, covering the town centre, gardens and beaches.

The council's submission for the award included details of their website redesign. The site, built on Contenis, is now customer focussed, searchable, responsive,  and provides resident accounts. The site ranked second for accessibility in the SiteMorse 2015 Q1/UK Local Government index

Zengenti CEO Richard Chivers attended the awards. He congratulated Bournemouth on their win. “I'm thrilled to see Bournemouth Borough Council win the award for Digital Council of the Year. They have worked exceptionally hard to ensure their digital platforms serve the needs of their users. Plus their work championing digital initiatives is remarkable. Fantastic to see them receive recognition for their achievements."
