What do you do at Zengenti?

I’m a client account manager. I work mostly with our councils and other public service organisations. My role is to help them to get the most of their investment in Contensis.

That could range from signposting an issue to help it get resolved, reporting KPIs like monthly uptime, or quoting for major new web systems. I often describe it to clients as dealing with any question that doesn’t have an obvious home!

I also work on responding to tenders for potential new clients.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

Varied, fascinating, and rewarding.

What do you like most about your job?

My clients :) I’ve known many for around a decade and seen their operations grow and evolve.

I particularly enjoy working on ideas with them and then seeing our teams put them into practice as live web systems.

What do you enjoy when you’re not working?

As many colleagues - clients and Zengenti - will know, I’m a keen gardener. I’m currently grappling with turning a patch of my garden “Japanese”. I’m getting there bit by bit...

I also enjoy real ale and cooking.

What’s been your highlight whilst working at Zengenti?

Winning the Domino Printing Sciences deal was a great experience. It led to an impressive range of multilingual websites and a decade-long partnership between the two companies.

What does a day in your role look like?

Any one day could involve any combination of phone meetings with clients, completing large documents (such as tenders and quotes), liaising between our various teams and fielding emails on unpredictable topics.

Less frequent, but just as importantly, I could be visiting an existing or prospective client, attending a conference or exhibition such as Share Digital, or going to a regional SOCITM meeting.

If you could switch roles with somebody in the company for a week, who would it be and why?

I think I’d switch with someone in a product owner role. It would be great to see ideas translated into software and ultimately released as new Contensis functionality.

What tools could you not do without in your role at Zengenti? i.e. Slack, Jira etc.

Slack and email are pretty essential… But I could survive without most items, except for my desk phone! Business is about interacting with people - and the phone is my starting point for that.
